When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.

"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day... The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)

Blog Question:What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)

Well first of all he is writing about his experience with the Jock Rots. He then writes how would you feel if you were being bullied which I think is a good statement because people would get to think about that and maybe stop bullying since they know it feels bad for the people that gets bullied. He is saying "What if" questions which is really powerful in this situation. He has the desire to change the whole bullying situation so that no one feels uncomfortable coming to school. He wants to make everything equal. He knows how it feels because he is also being bullied right now. And he doesn't like the way it feels. And he knows he's not the only one who thinks that. Thats why he, Russell, and Catalina started the whole " The Revealers" so that people that doesn't know this is going on can try to stop this from happening or at least know about it so that they can respect others too if they are the bullies.

Revealers Role Reversal

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.

1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
3) Two Peer Comments (4 pts each)

1. Russell was opposed to the idea because when Russell was being bullied (well not actually being bullied) but being warned, by Burke and Blanchette Richie stopped them threatening Russell. This mentions in page 97. So Russell didn't want to publish the letter because he thought they were becoming closer friends. And he didn't want Richie to think that he posted it because he was still scared of him.

2. They are becoming closer friends because in the beginning of the book, Russell had enough courage to ask Richie why he was bullying him. This mentions on page 44. Richie found that pretty brave so he let Russell ask him questions that didn't bother him too much. So it turned out that Richie got to help Russell, Catalina, and Elliot with their bully lab, "The Revealers."
