Character: Chang hong Student Name: Jee Hoon

Questions to be asked:

1. Question: Do you consider Ji Li as a black whelp?

Answer: Although Ji Li's family background isn't so good, that doesn't mean she has to join them. She still has a chance. Its not her fault that she was born into such a family. Although it will effect her but if she goes to the country side to do her summer labor she can wash the black stain from her back and follow chairman Mao. This mentions on pg 232 and 233. I think she gives up to easily. She could have went to the summer labor instead of working in a factory. This mentions on pg 233. But after putting some faith in her she makes the right decision. On pg 233 she dicides to go to summer labor after all.

3. Question: Do you think Ji Li is loyal to Mao's rule or disloyal?

Answer: Although Ji Li cares about Mao's rule, she cares about her family more. Of course she hates her grandfather because he was a landlord. She tried her best to ignore the past. But on page 212, they had crossed the line. She was sick of her name she thought of all the gossips there will be about her. but when she was about to change her name in pg 215, she ran away after she heard that you had to break up with your family

4. Question: Why do you support Mao?

Answer: I support Mao because hes rule is leading us to a great future. I am a red guard committee member myself which mentions on pg202. If you were born in a bad class status like Ji li, that may effect from going to a bad future but chairman Mao still gives you hope. Hes the leader of China and our future is in his hands.

Other questions:

2. Question: Would you help your family if they were in trouble?

Answer: On page 204 to 205, it says that my brother has epilepsy. I would be his favorite. He can't dress by himself or eat by himself. He wouldn't be able to live in his teens. But that doesn't make me stay home. We can't allow personal matters to interfere with revolutionary duties.

4. What does the word 'export' have to do with today's visit?

6. How old do you think the workers here are, on average?
7. What is one question you still have about the garment industry here in Bangladesh?
8. What types of issues does this factory cause or help solve in terms of resources here in Bangladesh?
9. What might you say about economic issues based on today's visit?

Do you think the products being manufactured here help or hurt
Bangladesh?

Answer one of the above questions and add two points of observation or reflection from the day abouts the two places we visited (Sterling Styles factory and Up2Date apparel office). Also you can compose a question that you may have from our flex day adventures. You should post these three items on your blog page.
1) answer a question 2) make two observations or reflections (or write your own questions that you may have) Three things in total!

Question #6
How old do you think the workers here are, on average?

I think the workers are around 30 years old because there job is to make clothes by sewing them together. And in order to do that they need to have good visions with their eyes. So if there really old they would have trouble seeing things and may make a mistake with the process. I don't think they would be that young for example 20. Because if there 20 and have enough knowledge to do that kind of job, they would probably be in university.

I think the age 30 would be perfect for those kind of jobs. From my observations, i think the workers were very educational because they knew a lot about sewing and working with those complex sewing machines. Plus the age 30 may be the best age to know a lot about things because at young age, there still learning, and at old age, they may have forgotten things or will forget things easily.

My question is, have all those workers have gone to university? and if they have, did they go to university's that are outside of Bangladesh or inside of Bangladesh?

Blog response instructions:• Answer the questions in complete sentences and use proper English (restrain from using MSN chat style of writing).• Use evidence from the novel to support your answer and include page numbers.• When commenting to your peers, be respectful in your language and about their responses. It is okay to disagree, but do it in a polite manner

When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.

"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day... The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)

Blog Question:What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)

Well first of all he is writing about his experience with the Jock Rots. He then writes how would you feel if you were being bullied which I think is a good statement because people would get to think about that and maybe stop bullying since they know it feels bad for the people that gets bullied. He is saying "What if" questions which is really powerful in this situation. He has the desire to change the whole bullying situation so that no one feels uncomfortable coming to school. He wants to make everything equal. He knows how it feels because he is also being bullied right now. And he doesn't like the way it feels. And he knows he's not the only one who thinks that. Thats why he, Russell, and Catalina started the whole " The Revealers" so that people that doesn't know this is going on can try to stop this from happening or at least know about it so that they can respect others too if they are the bullies.

Revealers Role Reversal

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.

1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
3) Two Peer Comments (4 pts each)

1. Russell was opposed to the idea because when Russell was being bullied (well not actually being bullied) but being warned, by Burke and Blanchette Richie stopped them threatening Russell. This mentions in page 97. So Russell didn't want to publish the letter because he thought they were becoming closer friends. And he didn't want Richie to think that he posted it because he was still scared of him.

2. They are becoming closer friends because in the beginning of the book, Russell had enough courage to ask Richie why he was bullying him. This mentions on page 44. Richie found that pretty brave so he let Russell ask him questions that didn't bother him too much. So it turned out that Richie got to help Russell, Catalina, and Elliot with their bully lab, "The Revealers."
